Galston High School is a comprehensive, co-educational community school which seeks to provide a challenging, quality curriculum within a caring and safe environment. The school is located in a rural area of Sydney's north in a nine hectare bushland setting and is served by bus transport. Student intake comes from thirty primary schools scattered throughout the local government shires of Hornsby, Baulkham Hills and Hawkesbury. Galston High is in a unique position as a comprehensive state high school, competing with more than fourteen private schools, four selective schools and one technology high school. The local community prides itself on Galston High's continued ability to maintain an extremely high profile in academic, sporting and cultural achievement.
